This includes educator account information (name, email, school), the responses you provide in letter questionnaires, and the recommendation letter drafts and evaluations you create. We may also store the first and last name of the student a letter is about so you can organize your letters. No salary, bonus, or other sensitive financial information is stored. No personal medical information or other highly sensitive data is collected.

Student Privacy and AI Processing

LetterWise uses a third-party AI model to help draft and evaluate letters. To protect student privacy, we hide the student's real name when sending information to the AI model — a placeholder is used in the AI request and the real name is restored only within your own account. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except as necessary for the sub-processors described below.

We require this information to provide and improve the Services, in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • Generating, refining, and evaluating recommendation letters at your request.
  • Improving our products and services.

We aim to comply with CCPA/CPRA through measures like data encryption and access controls. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.
